Is an indie-electro-jazz music duo from California (USA), consisting of Natalie Dawn Knutsen, who performs under the name Natalie Dawn, and Jack Conte, who can play a variety of instruments. The band was formed in the summer of 2008 and managed to sell more than 100,000 songs in online stores in 2009.
The band’s name comes from the French word pamplemousse, which translates to grapefruit.
Currently, the band’s music is available on YouTube and MySpace, and you can also download songs from iTunes for a fee. As of May 2013, they have 361,050 subscribers on their YouTube channel. The band gained recognition when their video Hail Mary was featured on YouTube’s home page. Many of the videos are recorded in the VideoSongs format, which, according to Jack Conte, is defined by the following two rules:
Everything you see is everything you hear (no background music for voice or musical instruments);
If you hear it, you will see it at some point (no hidden sounds).
